In September 2015 we were successful in a bid to receive lottery funding to develop our Forest School, enabling the purchase of further all-weather clothing and boots for the children and staff.
The Outdoors Project ran a weekly session from October 2015 until July 2016 during which time the children and staff could participate and develop their skills. At the same time Natalie was training to become a forest school trainer and was able to lead sessions during the week to ensure that all children had the opportunity to participate each week.
From September 2016 Natalie led daily sessions in the garden, with the children encouraged to participate in adult led activities and also to independently explore the environment.
In December 2016 we were awarded £10,000 from Tesco Bags for life to further develop our forest school area. We have spent the last 12 months planning and undertaking the work with the help of the children as much as possible. This has included laying meadow turf, planting a variety of herbs and plants, and making a vegetable garden for the children to tend.
Natalie made the exciting move to open her own pre school in February 2019, and Sam has taken over the role of Forest School Leader.
